The Chinese Family Services Project was developed in response to the specific needs of Chinese speaking families living and/or working in Monash providing culturally specific community education, parenting support groups, playgroup, and support to individual & family needs.
The Chinese Family Services Project Worker is responsible for the implementation of this project through the provision of culturally sensitive advice, playgroup and parenting support and education to Chinese speaking families with the aim of strengthening parenting capacities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered music therapist to join the Music Together team in providing group music therapy in a community setting to children aged 0-5 and their families. Music Together encourage health and well being in families of young children and the communities that support them. The program supports all families within the community including at-risk and marginalized families. Music Together currently operates in 16 various locations and employs 10 RMTs on a sessional basis.
Reporting to the Music Together Coordinator, this role primarily involves being a session leader for various groups. We are currently seeking a therapist to fill a maternity leave position for terms 3 and 4 of 2009, with the possibility of leading more sessions as they are established. We are also looking for music therapists to join the team in a locum capacity with the possibility of more sessions.
Other duties and responsibilities of this role include:
Develop and facilitate group music therapy sessions for families with pre-school aged children
Facilitate varied and engaging weekly music therapy sessions for participating families
Facilitate parent-child interactions during the weekly group sessions to encourage secure attachment
Support families in the development of community relationships
Participate in and contribute to quarterly group supervision and networking meetings
Work respectfully with participating families, volunteers and other staff from varied social, political, familial, and cultural backgrounds
Maintain a professional approach in all interactions
Liaise with program volunteers and coordinators for program development
Be aware of and act in accordance with Agency policies and the Code of Ethics of the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
Participate in annual performance reviews/appraisals
